This again raises the issue of tracking variants. To understand how the pandemic is developing in Africa, The Conversation spoke with Alpha Keita, a virologist at French research institute (IRD) and deputy director of Guinean infectious diseases centre CERFIG; Dramane Keita, a virologist and chemist at Burkinabe research organisation Centre Muraz, part of Burkina Faso\u2019s public health institute INSP; and Richard Njouom, head of virology at Cameroonian research body Pasteur Center in Cameroon in Yaound\u00e9.
