In March 2022, Benjamin Sauld\u00e9 and Claudia Koubevi from Innovative Diagnostics trained the personnel of the BIOLIM Laboratory in Togo (16-17\/03\/2022) and the LFHV in Benin (30-31\/03\/2022) to screen for SARS-CoV-2 mutations by PCR using the DICOV-MOC\/I kit, developed by the company Innovative Diagnostics.<\/p>\n

This training, together with the supply of reagents and the loan of a specific thermal cycler by the company to these two laboratories, enables them to search for mutations in the viruses detected in samples collected in Togo and Benin.<\/p>\n

\"Formations<\/p>\n

As part of the project, the BIOLIM laboratories (Togo), the IRCB and the LFHV (Benin) are in charge of carrying out the sequencing (BIOLIM and IRCB) and the screening of mutations by PCR (BIOLIM and LFHV) of national samples, and to collect and analyze epidemiological data (BIOLIM and IRCB) on the samples that reveal the presence of variants of concern.<\/p>\n

The reinforcement by AFROSCREEN of the capacities of these three laboratories consists not only in the training of their staff (training in sequencing, screening PCR, bioinformatics analysis, phylogeny, etc.), but also in the acquisition equipment, reagents and consumables needed to carry out laboratory activities. Thus, during the first half of 2022, BIOLIM and the IRCB will notably be equipped with an NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) sequencer allowing them to start sequencing SARS-CoV-2, and eventually other emerging pathogens.<\/p>\n

In addition, through the AFROSCREEN project, the partnership between IRD \/ UMR TransVIHMI and UMR MERIT and three laboratories is sustainably strengthened.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n\n
